Welcome to the Admiral Byrd School website which will provide you with a snapshot of life at Byrd School!

Admiral Byrd School is located in Elk Grove Village, a northwestern suburb of Chicago. We are a school of approximately 370 students in kindergarten through fifth grades. Byrd is a Title I School offering full day kindergarten classes, and we house one of the district’s dual language Spanish programs.

School staff, students and parents are very proud of the excellent educational opportunities that are provided at Byrd School. Children encounter wonderful, engaging learning experiences with each new day. An integrated literacy program is emphasized throughout the student’s day, with ongoing emphasis on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. We are also proud of the technology available to our staff and students. This year we are excited to provide a tablet for all students in grade K-2 and a laptop and tablet for those in grades 3-5. Teachers are able to enhance and enrich the students’ learning experiences through the use of many different technologies.

During the school year, we provide several extracurricular clubs for children as well as evening activities, such as curriculum nights. These are organized by staff and provide many additional fun and enriching experiences for our students.

Parents at Byrd School are actively involved through their participation in our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). We welcome all of our parents and staff to join and/or support organization, and we appreciate the ways in which they enrich our school. Through the time and efforts of our many volunteers, we are able to provide excellent cultural arts programs for our children, take classes on educational field trips, give each student a birthday book in celebration of their birthday, and so much more.

Once again, Byrd School is dedicated to employing 21st Century learning strategies, which will prepare our students to be successful for life.
