CCSD59 Administration Teams Up in Volunteering Event
CCSD59 is a caring community built on a foundation of service and dedication to others, and on Tuesday, August 2, the Administration showed they lead by example.
The administrative leadership teams from the district office and all fifteen schools volunteered at Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg, IL. The not-for-profit organization hand packs meals for malnourished children and ships them to distribution partners, helping 70 countries globally. Principals, directors, assistant superintendents, and the superintendent all participated in the volunteer event.
In just a few hours, 114 boxes were packed, totalling 24,624 meals. 67 children will be fed for an entire year by those meals.
By all accounts, it was a very rewarding experience for all who volunteered. While packaging food for children in Guatemala, the staff partnered with each other outside of the educational setting, helping to build stronger relationships.
“Serving others has a huge impact not only for those who receive the meals, but for those who volunteer as well,” said Kelley Zerfahs, CCSD59’s Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and coordinator of this service project. “Helping others is one of the leading ways to increase morale and happiness, and we know having a staff with high morale and happiness has an incredibly positive impact on students and our community.”
