Letter from the Principal
Hello Admiral Byrd Community,
My name is Larry Ganan, and I’m honored to begin my fifth year as principal of Admiral Byrd Elementary School. I truly believe that strong partnerships between families and our school are essential to building on the successes we’ve achieved together. I’m excited for the year ahead and all the great things we’ll accomplish as a community.
A bit about my background in education: I began my career in Community Consolidated School District 59 as a sixth-grade math and science teacher at Friendship Junior High. I then served as assistant principal at Salt Creek Elementary for three years, followed by four years in the same role at Clearmont Elementary. Now, as I enter my fifth year at Admiral Byrd, I feel incredibly fortunate to continue serving the wonderful Elk Grove Village community.
As a parent of a fourteen-year-old, I understand the deep trust you place in us as educators. It’s our responsibility to provide every student with a strong foundation—academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe in educating the whole child, which means nurturing not only academic growth but also supporting the development of important social and emotional skills that will benefit students throughout their lives.
Parents/guardians are the most important people in a child’s life, and your involvement is key to their success. That’s why a strong partnership between home and school is so important. With your support, we can ensure a positive and productive school year for all our students. I’m confident that by working together, we can help every child reach their full potential.
I look forward to working closely with you in the coming year. My door is always open, and I truly value your thoughts, questions, and feedback. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or to Mrs. Janicki, our assistant principal. We are here to support you and your child every step of the way.
